Port Huron, MI - With staff gynecologist Dr. Richard Relken retiring at the end of October, McLaren Port Huron Women’s Wellness Place would like to recognize his contribution to its Well Woman Care program and announce that Dr. Peter Tseng will join the Well Woman staff in November.
Board Certified Gynecologist Richard Relken, MD, has been seeing patients in Women’s Wellness Place since the opening of Well Woman Care in 2003. Dr. Relken came out of retirement ten years ago to fill the unique roll of developing, growing and providing gynecologic services in the Well Woman Care program. He brought more than 30 years experience of practicing in women’s medicine to the program.
Peter Tseng, MD, will begin seeing patients in Women’s Wellness Place on Tuesday, November 5. Board certified in gynecology, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He served his residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He has been in practice in the Blue Water area for 21 years.
Well Woman Care was developed by McLaren Port Huron for women looking for convenient access to a women’s health specialist for routine, preventative care in a pleasant, caring setting. A typical visit to Well Woman Care includes a general physical, pelvic exam, pap smear if needed and a breast exam. A major benefit of having the well woman services at Women’s Wellness Place is that other services such as a mammograms, lab tests and x-rays may all be scheduled for the same day.
According to Kathy Smith, Director of Ambulatory and Clinical Services at the hospital, “It's extremely important for women to have annual physical exams, but it isn't always convenient for them to go to several different locations for the tests they need. Well Woman Care, with services provided by a board certified gynecologist, is one of the reasons that Women’s Wellness Place is recognized across the country as a benchmark comprehensive women’s health center.”
“Dr. Relken and his medical expertise were key to the success of our
Well Woman services. We are very grateful for his contributions and we
will miss him. We congratulate him and wish him well on his retirement
after 40 years in practice,” says Kathy.
“At the same time, we are excited that Dr. Tseng is joining the program. He has been a well-respected and trusted physician in the community for many years and we are confident that our patients will be pleased with his compassionate care and expertise.”
Well Woman Care hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Tseng, call 810-985-2663.
