Free block party in observance of National Night Out

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

In observance of National Night Out August 6, 2013, a national movement to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and to generate participation in local anti-crime efforts, the Port Huron Hospital Foundation is sponsoring a free community block party for Town North residents. Town North is the area of Port Huron bounded by the Black River, St. Clair River and the I-94/Blue Water Bridges corridor.

This free event will be held August 6, 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the employee courtyard at Port Huron Hospital. The courtyard entrance is on Stone Street, near Richardson Street. The event will include free children’s games, prizes, and hot dogs sponsored by Target. The event will also include an ice cream dessert.

Marking its 30th anniversary in 2013, National Night Out will be observed in more than 15,000 communities from all 50 states, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. An estimated 35 million people are expected to participate. Residents throughout Port Huron and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.
