Port Huron, MI – Port Huron Hospital Women’s Wellness Place will hold its 9th Annual Women and Heart – Wine, Cheese and Chocolate event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 7, at the Black River Country Club.
Participants will enjoy a fun and informational evening focused on women as the heart of the family. Generally, women take care of the health of the whole family. They make doctor appointments, care for illnesses at home and encourage good nutrition and exercise. Ironically, however, women typically put their own health last. Nurse practitioner DuWan Wetzel, MSN, ACNP-BC will discuss the unique role that women play in family health and what women can do to give their health higher priority.
The evening will include an information area with free blood pressure screenings, fitness information, pharmacists and jewelry artisans and the opportunity to savor delicious wine, cheese and chocolate while enjoying time with friends. Participants are encouraged to wear red – the national color of women’s heart health awareness.
This special program is held annually in observance of American Heart Month.
Cost of the evening program is $10. Registration is required. Call HealthAccess, 1-800-228-1484 or register online at www.porthuronhospital.org/events.
