Some people use statistics to try to figure out their chances of getting cancer or of being cured. It is important to remember that statistics show what happens with large groups of people. Because no two people are alike, you can't use this information to know or predict what will happen to you.
These are 2013 statistics from the American Cancer Society about vulvar cancer:
Vulvar cancer is rare. About 4,700 women in the United States will be diagnosed with this cancer this year.
Vulvar cancer accounts for 4 percent of female reproductive cancers and only 0.6 percent of all cancers in women.
About 1,000 women will die this year from vulvar cancer.
