Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

There are two types of FSAs: Health Care and Dependent Care

Health Care Reimbursement Account

This account is used to pay for eligible out-of-pocket health care expenses for you, your spouse and eligible dependents. The annual maximum election is $5,000.

Examples of eligible health care expenses:

  • Medical and dental deductibles, co-pays and co-insurance
  • Prescriptions
  • Hospital expenses
  • Orthopedic devices
  • Eye glasses, contact lenses
  • Hearing aids
  • Orthodontic care
  • Chiropractic expenses
  • Insulin, syringes for insulin
  • Dental bridges, crowns, dentures

Please Note:  New regulations in effect as of January I, 2011, affect your Health Care Reimbursement Account. Over-the-counter items now require a prescription to be considered an eligible expense.

Examples of expenses that are not covered:

  • Dietary Supplements
  • Vitamins
  • Herbal supplements
  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Sales tax on an eligible expense
  • Medical insurance premiums

Dependent Care

This account is used to pay for day care expenses of a child under age 13. If married, you and your spouse must both work or your spouse must be a full-time student in order to get reimbursed for eligible dependent day care expenses. The annual maximum election is $5,000.

On-line access can be found on the McLaren Port Huron employee portal where you can view the following fields:

  • Account Balance
  • Claims History
  • Payroll Deductions
