Port Huron Hospital Breather's Club

Port Huron Hospital Breather’s Club offers an exercise program designed for those individuals with pulmonary diseases: asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, COPD, or related diseases.  Individuals with heart failure and other medical conditions that affect endurance and breathing capacity can also benefit.  Our focus is on the promotion and maintenance of wellness.  Learn how to cope with your disease and how to help yourself.

We will:

  • Provide the opportunity for you to exercise in an environment supervised by a Registered Nurse.  Oxygen is available for those who require it.
  • Reinforce education initiated in your physician’s office related to understanding your disease and its management.
  • Offer a place which encourages support and social interaction among members.
  • Teach and encourage members how to measure and record their response to activity through a coaching style of supervision.  You, along with staff, will record your exercise visit information and we will encourage you to share it with your doctor at scheduled appointments.

The cost is $96.00 for 16 visits ($6.00 per visit).  Insurance will not cover participation in the Breather’s Club (scholarships are available).

We believe the Breather’s Club can realistically assist you with managing your disease, as well as your sense of well-being!

To schedule an appointment for orientation or for more information, call Sandy Keane, RN at (810) 989-3739, Monday or Thursday.
