Women’s Wellness Place Cares About Women Experiencing Cancer

McLaren Port Huron Women’s Wellness Place provides resources, education, and support to individuals diagnosed with cancer as well as their families. We feel those experiencing cancer deserve to be surrounded with caring, knowledgeable individuals who understand what you are experiencing.

Our services include:

  • Look Good, Feel Better - For women in cancer treatment experiencing hair loss, skin, facial and nail changes. The dates are in our event calendar for your convenience
  • Reach to Recovery - Breast Cancer Survivors volunteer to visit patients during their hospital stay providing support, education and comfort. Contact the American Cancer Society at 800.227.2345 for a referral.
  • Cancer Committee - A multidisciplinary management of McLaren Port Huron’s Cancer Services.

Partnering with the community in efforts to support women with cancer

Each year, Women’s Wellness Place hosts the Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon. This our opportunity to celebrate the courage of women who have survived breast cancer and to honor their support persons.

McLaren Port Huron participates in Studio 1219’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month events. A highlight has been the bra decorating contest which has stimulated imaginations and interest of the community.  All funds raised from these events stay in our community to help women with breast cancer.  Also during October, Salon PiZazz along with other local Salons' offer "Lets Wear Pink Hair" where women, men and children can purchase pink hair extensions to help increase awareness of breast cancer and raise money to help women in need of cancer services.  As a result of their efforts we gratefully received over $20,000 for the McLaren Port Huron Donna Niester Breast Cancer Fund.

The annual Betty Kearns Little Black Dress event is a regular sell out. Every March, the Kearns family honors their beloved Betty and her struggle with breast cancer. McLaren Port Huron is proud to be a recipient of a $12,500 donation as a result from this one day event.

McLaren Port Huron works closely with the American Cancer Society in helping patients diagnosed with cancer and their families to obtain evidence based information and supportive resources available throughout the Blue Water Area with the best in cancer services.  A Cancer Resource Center is located in the Lang Library with ACS volunteers available to get answers to your cancer questions and access ACS programs and services to guide you through your cancer journey from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
