Port Huron Hospital provides a full range of inpatient and short stay surgery services

You will find advanced techology operating rooms and equipment and staff who are dedicated to providing high quality care in both the inpatient surgical area within Port Huron Hospital and in the Surgery and Endoscopy Services area of the Wismer Health Center.

ORTo differentiate between the two types of surgical services, inpatients spend at least one night in the hospital. They may arrive the day of surgery or the night before. Outpatient or short visit surgery is performed in one day. Patients enter and leave the Wismer Health Center the same day.

When you and your physician have determined that you need surgery, there are a few steps you will need to follow.

If your physician has given you orders for lab work prior to your surgery, please don't delay those tests. We have several convenient locations where you can have these tests, including the Wismer Health Center. Click on either Laboratory Services or X-ray Services for hours and locations. These tests should be completed no more than 30 days in advance of your surgery or procedure, but you should allow time for them to be reviewed well in advance of your surgery.

While your surgeon will schedule the time of your surgery, you must still call the Port Huron Hospital Call Center as soon as possible to register for your surgery. Their hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. If you reach voice mail, please leave the correct spelling of your name, the date of your surgery and the best way to reach you by phone and someone will return your call.

Pre-Surgical Screening will call you one to two days prior to your surgery to obtain your health history and to review things you should do prior to surgery. Your doctor's office may have given you a booklet regarding your surgery and what to expect while you are here. If you haven't received this booklet, please call Pre-Surgical Screening.
