Internal Job Bidding - In support of developing an employee’s skills, abilities and interests, current employees are considered for new opportunities and transfers within the organization.
Educational Assistance - Employees are eligible for reimbursement of their education of up to $1,500 a year for full-time employees and $900 per year for part-time employees.
Continuing Education - Employees have numerous courses available through the organization to help advance their careers or maintain existing credentials.
Student Loans - Student loans are available to individuals completing educational programs. Loans are forgiven in return for a work commitment based upon the provisions of the loan agreement.
Nurse Technicians – RN students are given the opportunity to further develop, practice and enhance their skills alongside a RN in their last year of school. BROCHURE
Port Huron Hospital has an initiative to encourage employees to make a healthier choice for themselves. We have created a number of programs, here are just a few:
Working on Wellness (WOW) - is an initiative to help Port Huron Hospital employees make healthier choices. WOW is the overall program that includes, America on the Move, health risk assessments, health club sign up, health screenings, classes offered through Women’s Wellness or 55 Plus, such as yoga and weight loss, smoking cessation, Lunch & Learns, Weight Watchers at Work, EAP, annual physical exam through NGS insurance.
Employee Assistance Program - An Employee Assistance Program is available free to employees and household members with free, confidential assistance to help with personal issues or job performance problems such as marital, family and mental health issues, alcohol or drug dependency, financial concerns, handling loss and grief or for stress-related problems.
Health Clubs - A variety of local facilities are available at discounted rates to Port Huron Hospital employees.
Pharmacy Discounts – Port Huron Hospital employees get discounts at our pharmacies for over-the-counter medications.

Port Huron Hospital is committed to rewarding and recognizing outstanding contributions made by its employees through the following programs:
Annual Service Awards - Annual service awards are provided to employees in five-year increments, beginning with an employee's fifth year of hospital service. An annual awards banquet is also provided in honor of those employees with 10 or more years of continuous, dedicated and distinguished service. In addition, the celebrated employees may select a gift according to their length of service.
Employee Appreciation Week – Port Huron Hospital designates one week each year to recognize employees for their dedicated service.
Refer a Friend Program - When a Port Huron Hospital employee refers someone to work at Port Huron Hospital, they may be eligible to receive a monetary reward for doing so. FLYER

Spotlight Moment cards - cards are presented by managers to instantly recognize staff for exemplary teamwork and customer service.
At Port Huron Hospital, we believe time away from work provides an employee with an opportunity for rest and relaxation key to the health and well being of our people. For this reason, eligible employees are provided a Benefit Bank (BB). The Benefit Bank is used for vacation, holidays, personal needs and employees accrue Benefit Bank Hours each pay period based on length of service, full or part-time and exempt or non-exempt status. Port Huron Hospital also recognizes six legal holidays per year.
Full-time non-exempt employees accrue up to 19 BB days in their first through fourth years of service, 25 BB days in years four through seven, and up to 30 days as of the eleventh year of service.
Part-time employees also accrue BB hours each pay period based on non-exempt or exempt status and authorized hours.
