The Lang Health Library is named for the late Isaac (Ike) Lang, Jr., and his wife Pearl, who made a $250,000 contribution to Port Huron Hospital to be used for education and the library in the Wismer Health Center.

The couple chose this giving opportunity because of a strong commitment to the community and to education, to reading and to being well informed about health. Mrs. Lang taught school for more than 20 years. Mr. Lang owned Somber Machine and Tool Company until the mid 1990s. He started Black River Manufacturing in 1977.

Long-time contributors to Port Huron Hospital and other organizations in the community, the Langs felt that by helping Port Huron Hospital, they were helping the community stay healthy.
