Beacon Society 

Founded by the Special Gifts Committee of Port Huron Hospital Foundation in 1991

• $10,000.00 or more donation

Recognition includes: donors are featured on a permanent recognition display located in the main lobby of the hospital, members are accorded special invitations to significant functions and events in the life of Port Huron Hospital throughout the year.

Recognition includes: donor's name is displayed on the Cornerstone Club display at the Hospital and at your local Community Health Center, receive an annual subscription to and your name will be published in the Port Huron Hospital newsletter, issued special invitations to events through the Hospital and its healthcare partners, personalized thank you gift

Business Honor Roll 

• Gold Level $500, Silver Level $250 and Business Honor Roll $100

Recognition includes: your organizations name displayed on the Business Honor Roll display at the Hospital and at your local Community Health Center, you will receive a personalized certificate of appreciation, an annual subscription to the Port Huron Hospital newsletter, acknowledgment of your organizations's support in the Foundation's annual report and recognition through out the year at Hospital and Foundation events.

Membership is a special partnership between your business and Port Huron Hospital, with the mutual goal of maintaining access to quality healthcare for your employees and the community.

ETC Club 

Developed to allow the employees of Port Huron Hospital to help fellow employees and others who are touched by the hospital.

Mission is to assist employees with personal crises or family emergencies, to provide support for employee sponsored social events, and to fund special projects that will benefit our patients, our community and hospital employees.

Anyone contributing $4.00 a pay period or more will be included as a member of the Cornerstone Club with all of the benefits accorded its community members.

Precious Gifts 

Developed to provide a unique opportunity for parents, grandparents, family members and friends to celebrate the arrival of a new baby .

Contributions will be used to purchase equipment to enhance PHH's maternal and infant care services.

With a minimum gift of $25, parents of the babies honored will receive a card and a keepsake with the baby's name and birth date. The baby's name and birth date will also be permanently recognized on the Precious Gifts mural located in the Miriam F. Acheson Family Birth Place.

Gift of Life 

A way to express appreciation; recognize special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and promotions; and memorialize loved ones or friends.The name of the donor and the person being recognized will appear in Good Health News, the Hospital's quarterly newsletter.

Tree of Life

A unique part of the Gift of Life program designated for donors who wish to permanently pay tribute to family members and friends through a contribution to Port Huron Hospital.

The "Tree of Life", located in the hospital's center lobby, is a hand cast sculpture of antique bronze and solid brass featuring a quote from Albert Schweitzer, "Here at whatever hour you come, you will find light and help and human kindness". It was designed for the hospital by Sanford Werfel, a noted New Jersey sculptor who was commissioned by the Statue of Liberty Foundation to design, sculpt and cast the new cornerstone tablet for the refurbished Statue of Liberty. The sculpture contains leaves, apples and at the base of the tree is a grouping of stones.

The contribution for a leaf is $500, for an apple is $2500 and for a stone is $5000. Each leaf, apple and stone can be engraved with a personal message from the donor.

James C. Acheson Foundation Creates $75,000 Challenge for IV Smart Pumps 

The James C. Acheson Foundation has awarded $75,000 to Port Huron Hospital in the form of a matching grant to fund the purchase of new IV Smart Pumps, the most advanced technology in IV Therapy. The grant will encourage other donors to support this important patient safety initiative at Port Huron Hospital

Having earned both state and national recognition for patient safety and quality of care, Port Huron Hospital continues its pursuit of excellence and improving medication safety with this $1.5 million project and the implementation of Smart Pump technology. Smart Pumps are pre-loaded IV medication library pumps that are programmed with dosage, age and weight parameters that make it nearly impossible for clinicians to make medication errors. Alarms alert the clinician if the dosages are set beyond a predetermined set of parameters.

The Smart Pump -- along with the bar coding of the drug order, the IV bag, and the patient wrist band -- assure that the RIGHT drug is being given in the RIGHT dose to the RIGHT patient at the RIGHT time by the RIGHT route.
