We believe every woman needs to be educated and empowered to fight breast cancer. To help local women do just that, many local businesses teamed up and organized a variety activities last fall. The participation was phenomenal and the proceeds enabled 84 women to receive free breast health services at McLaren Port Huron. Free mammograms and other health screenings are provided to women in St. Clair and Sanilac Counties.
One of the funding sources for Women in Need is the Donna Niester Breast Cancer Fund. The fund, named for Donna Niester, a local CPA and healthcare advocate, supports programs that create awareness about breast cancer, provides assistance to women with breast cancer and helps pay for diagnostic test or treatments. The fund is supported through private donations and charitable efforts that take place in the community.
Once again, we are teaming up with several local organizations for many fun activities in October. All proceeds benefit the Women in Need program to assist women who have not previously had a mammogram and/or do not have insurance.
Donna Niester invites you to wine, dine and shop to support breast cancer care. Vendors include Longaberger®, The Pampered Chef®, Rachel Harris Jewelry, The Painted Lady, Thirty-One®, Mums-Cwik Garden Center and Salon PiZazz. All proceeds benefit the Donna Niester Breast Cancer Fund at McLaren Port Huron.
