Diabetes Education Services

Our outpatient Diabetes Education Program is an American Diabetes Association recognized program. It includes group and individual education classes; support groups for adults; partnering with community organizations, such as the YMCA on diabetes and pre-diabetes programs; and working with the Port Huron area schools and school nurses.

Group and Individual Instruction in:

  • Diabetes self-management skills
  • Blood sugar monitoring
  • Medications
  • Complication prevention
  • Nutrition management
  • Stress management

McLaren Port Huron's diabetes education nurse coordinators and registered dietitian provide group and individual instruction. They offer regular educational classes and individual instruction for people who are newly diagnosed with diabetes.
